Trump and Mamdani will meet this Friday at the White House

President Donald Trump announced, on the evening of this Wednesday, the 19th, that he and the elected mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, will meet this Friday, the 21st, for a meeting at the White House. The announcement was made by the republican through Truth Social.

“The communist mayor requested a meeting”, he wrote, then stating that he would provide “more details soon”. The meeting should take place in the Oval Room of the presidential palace, a place where in recent months Trump embarrassed Volodmir Zelenski, Ukrainian president, and Cyril Ramaphosa, president of South Africa.

This week, the president received the prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, and the Portuguese football player (who now plays for Al Nassr) Cristiano Ronaldo. Mamdani has not yet commented on the matter. But on Monday, the 17th, he advanced the possibility of the meeting, stating that his team had contacted the White House to schedule a possible meeting. On Sunday the 16th, Trump told reporters that he planned to meet with Mamdani.

Since the campaign period, Trump has called the newly elected mayor, who calls himself a democratic socialist, a “communist”. The American president even threatened to deport Mamdani, who was born in Uganda and became a naturalized American citizen in 2018, and cut federal funding from the city.
