Acre showed a slight improvement in the 2025 State Competitiveness Ranking, published this Friday (21) by the Public Leadership Center (CLP), in the item “Families Below the Poverty Line”. Despite the advance, the state remains among those with the highest proportion, now occupying 25th position.

The data used in the survey is based on studies by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). According to the report, 6.80% of Acre households have per capita household income lower than the limit defined by the Federal Government to characterize social vulnerability.
Although the percentage is still high, Acre rose two positions compared to the 2023 ranking, when it appeared in last place, in 27th place. The result, therefore, indicates an improvement, but shows that the challenge remains significant.
Poverty line and national comparison
To compose the indicator, the ranking adopts the official criteria established by the Federal Government since 2023: families with a monthly per capita income of up to R$218 are considered below the poverty line. On a national level, rates vary between 1.65% and 8.54%, revealing strong inequalities between regions.

Among the states with the highest percentage of families in this condition, Acre appears behind only two federation units, both in the Northeast: Ceará – 7.04% and Maranhão – 8.54%, the highest rate in the country.
Best performing states
At the opposite end of the ranking, the lowest percentages of families in poverty are concentrated in the South and Central-West regions. These states lead the indicator as the best positioned in the country: Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul and Mato Grosso do Sul
Even with the improvement recorded, the survey shows that Acre still faces a situation of strong economic inequality, but it also reveals that the state has been taking small steps towards a more balanced position on the national scene.
