Minister of Development highlighted recent agreements made by the European bloc, with Singapore in 2023, and with the European Free Trade Association (Efta), this year
The vice-president and minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, stated this Thursday (21), that the agreement between the oea (EU) should be signed in December 2025. The vice-president was asked by journalists about the interest of the government of Uruguay – a member of Mercosur – in joining the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) unilaterally, but did not respond specifically on the matter.
“Mercosur involves issues of free trade. We have four countries, entering Bolivia, we now have five countries that have a customs union. So, free trade and customs union.” He highlighted recent agreements made by Mercosur, with Singapore in 2023, and with the European Free Trade Association (Efta), this year.
“In December, the Mercosur-European Union agreement should be signed. More than almost a quarter of a century later (from the start of negotiations), 25 years. “Finally, Alckmin said that there are negotiations to expand preferential tariff lines. “It’s not free trade, but you expand tariff lines of preference. Brazil-Mexico, Mercosur-India.”
