Bolsonaro has been suffering from hiccups and vomiting episodes for 23 hours

Former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) once again presented with persistent hiccups, which according to people close to him have been lasting for around 23 hours. Furthermore, he has faced recurrent episodes of vomiting, followed by bronchoaspiration, which causes shortness of breath for a few seconds and raises awareness among family members.

Intense symptoms worry family members, who consider taking him to the hospital; former president is under house arrest and any departure depends on authorization from the STF/Photo: Reproduction

Carlos Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), councilor and son of the former president, reported his fear about the situation online when he stated that he had never seen his father so weak. He described that Bolsonaro even hiccups while sleeping and that the risk of reflux and bronchoaspiration makes him apprehensive. Carlos also said that, when awake, his father vomits repeatedly, and that, during sleep, the condition is even more worrying.

Earlier this Friday (21/11), Bolsonaro was seen opening the door of his house to welcome federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG). The image, recorded by Mateus Bonomi, from Reuters, shows the former president showing a slight smile. Even so, given the continuation of symptoms, the family considers the possibility of sending him to the hospital. Due to house arrest, any movement must be communicated in advance to the Federal Supreme Court (STF). Sentenced to 27 years and 3 months for attempted coup, Bolsonaro has his sentence under analysis for possible transfer to the prison system next week.

The former president’s last hospitalization occurred on September 16, when he experienced a drop in blood pressure, hiccups and new episodes of vomiting. Since the stab wound he suffered in 2018, Bolsonaro has undergone several interventions in his intestinal tract, which has contributed to recurrences of the condition.
