Panic reigned in Belem, Brazil, when a fire broke out at the venue, prompting the immediate evacuation of the conference venue and the evacuation of thousands of delegates.

More specifically, under still unclear circumstances, at around 14:00 (local time, 19:00 in Greece) a kiosk was engulfed in flames and smoke spread inside, causing panic among employees and visitors.

An order was given for the precautionary evacuation of the specific ward, while the Fire Department rushed to the spot.

Brazilian Tourism Minister Celso Sabino said the situation was fully under control about half an hour later, with no injuries reported.

Authorities are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fire, which is believed to have started from a short circuit.
