The taste and aroma of coffee are its important elements. It is mainly because of them that we willingly drink another cup of this drink. For taste and the smell of coffee influenced by many factors, including the origin and type of grain, the conditions of its cultivation, the roasting process, but also the degree of grinding of the grains and the proper coffee storage. We cannot control, for example, the process of growing or roasting the beans, but it is up to us how we store the coffee after opening the package.

Choosing an inappropriate place will cause it to quickly lose its aroma and its taste will deteriorate. In addition, it may even start to mold, and then it will only be suitable for throwing away. It is worth remembering that one of the main enemies of coffee is moisture. We should therefore store grains away from sources of water or steam.

To make the coffee taste delicious, it is best to buy it in grains and grind it just before brewing. Then we will be able to enjoy its full aroma. Previously ground coffee weathers quite quickly, so it is better not to buy already ground beans and grind them in advance.

Remember not to store the beans permanently in the grinder, as this accelerates the oxidation process. Do not place it in the refrigerator because of moisture and possible absorption of odors from other products.

A cool, dry place is best for storing coffee. Room temperature will be optimal, around 18-22 degrees Celsius. Let’s avoid sunny places. Therefore, it is better to lock your coffee in a cupboard than to place it, for example, on a windowsill.

After opening the original packaging, it is worth pouring the coffee into an appropriate container – tight, opaque, ceramic or made of dark glass or steel. It will provide better protection against light and air. Plastic packaging will not work – especially for long-term coffee storage.
