Rumer Willis spoke about living with her father, during a question session on Instagram last Thursday (20). The actress explained that responding to the actor’s health status, diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, is not simple, but highlighted how much she values each visit.

According to her, although her father no longer recognizes her in every encounter, the emotional bond remains. “I’m very happy and grateful to still be able to hug him,” she said. Rumer said that, despite the limitations imposed by the disease, she still feels reciprocity when showing affection. “When I go there and give him a hug, whether he recognizes me or not, he can feel the love I give him, and I feel it back,” he said.

The actress also commented that she still notices “a glow” in her father and that these moments bring comfort, especially being able to share this experience with her daughter, Loretta, aged 2. “I’m very lucky to still be able to go there, to be able to spend time with him, to feel the love he has for me and that he expresses to me,” she said.

Rumer reinforced that, given her father’s illness, common parameters about what it means to be “well” no longer apply. Still, within the reality of the disease, Bruce is “ok”. For her, the essential thing is the possibility of being present: feeling, exchanging affection and keeping the family connection alive.
