For many who work in software development, the use of AI tools may now be part of their everyday life. In the open source world, however, “Vibe Coding” and the like have a relatively bad reputation. After all, the use of AI contradicts the principles that motivate many people to develop free software. The legal as well as the social and moral situation of using systems that have been trained en masse on other people’s code can at least be described as “difficult”.
