A native of Maastricht, Netherlands, born into a musical family, he is today one of the most popular artists in the world and the best-selling classical musician of all time. His father was the conductor of the Limburg Symphony Orchestra, and André started playing the violin at the age of five. In 1978, he founded his first ensemble, the Maastricht Salon Orchestra, which in 1987 transformed into Johann Strauss Orchestra – today the largest private orchestra in the world.
