Young woman goes to the hairdresser and feels 'cheated': “I paid €81 to cut the ends”

A client shared on TikTok the surprise she experienced when, after cutting the ends of her hair, she received an invoice for 81 euros. The video, published on the profile @caosinstalada, describes the situation in detail and opened an intense debate about prices, luxury products and expectations in hairdressing salons.

The young woman explained that she chose a salon in Carcavelos because she lives in the Cascais area and expected an affordable cost. In the video he reports having had “a very pleasant experience”, saying that “the service was excellent and the hair looked incredible”. Only when paying did he realize that the amount was different from what he had anticipated.

The unexpected bill and the initial reaction

Convinced that 20 euros would be enough to pay for the service, the young woman even took another 10 euros from her wallet for having made a brushing. In the video he states: “I still had a voucher which unfortunately could only be used at the hairdresser’s spa because otherwise my haircut would cost around 10 euros”. “However, the cost of the service was set at 81 euros. “I paid 81 euros to cut the ends”, he highlights.

After the video was published on TikTok, many users showed ‘solidarity’ with this client’s revolt. However, a long and technical comment gained prominence. The author of the same stated that she had looked for the salon and indicated that the client had not mentioned that the space uses ranges premiumsuch as Kerastase and Shu Uemura. The comment reads: “Shu Uemura is even more expensive than Kerastase, in short, it is L’Oréal’s highest and most luxurious range”.

Products premium and perception of the service

In the same comment, the user says she has 15 years of professional experience with these brands, which is why she justified the value with the quality of the products used in washing. He wrote: “I can guarantee that they didn’t wash his hair like someone washing clothes in a sink, and that they applied Bain K instead of neutral shampoo.” The review continued with the idea that the service was not limited to the cut, but to the “experience and involvement”.

The author of the comment also questioned why the client didn’t ask for a quote before the service, suggesting that this would have avoided misunderstandings: “There is a price list posted and, if there wasn’t, you could have asked for a quote before the work. It’s free.” In the same comment he stated that “everyone wants to have a luxury experience, but not everyone has a wallet, and that’s okay”.

Debate about expectations and experiences

The comparison used by the user with a luxury hotel gave strength to the debate: “It’s the same as going to an XPTO Hotel Resort & Spa without looking for the nightly rates”. It even encourages other users to try services of this type: “Go to the space this client went to just to wash and dry and you will understand what I am saying”.

Meanwhile, it continued to generate shares, with users divided between those who understood the client’s surprise and those who considered the price predictable in a salon that uses luxury products.
