Or future BYD Racco
BYD Racco, even shorter than Dolphin Surf, was recently presented. It will have a range of approximately 180 km.
BYD wants to launch an electric car that is even more affordable than its Dolphin Mini, its electric car.
This is what the manufacturer showed at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, where it gave a first “smell” of what can be expected from the Racco worldthe ultra-compact designed to respond to the demand for urban and low-cost cars in international markets.
The Racco should first reach the Japanese market, where the so-called kei-cars have already won over the public. In 2023 alone, these models represented more than 30% of new car sales.
The new model will have four doors and a square look, typical of the category. Its dimensions make it 60 cm shorter than the Dolphin Surf, however, it is in line with the Nissan Sakura, currently the best-selling electric car in that market.
BYD’s light-sized EV is also called “Racco.” Seems pretty convenient.

The model must use lithium iron phosphate (LFP) Blade batteries, capable of offering a approximate range of 180 km. Both the battery type and the most economical set indicate that BYD is following a strategy to keep the model’s costs low.
Although the price has not yet been confirmed, it is already known that it should be around 18 thousand dollars (around 15.6 thousand euros).
Although there is still no confirmation about the model’s arrival on the European market, the brand’s executives recognize that the car does, in fact, have the right profile for the public of the “old continent”.
