Ambev () has opened a new production line for premium beers in Lages (SC) in a move that seeks to meet the increased demand for this line of products, especially supplying the Southern market. This expansion immediately becomes responsible for 40% of the brewery’s production at the unit.
The labels Stella Artois, Stella Pure Gold, Spaten, Corona, Corona Cero and Budweiser 0.0% will be produced. These brands, states Ambev, are leading the company’s expansion in the premium market, the fastest growing segment in the beer sector in Brazil. In the case of non-alcoholic versions, the drinks follow the trend towards balanced choices more common among consumers.
“In recent years, we have directed important resources to expand capacity and develop new industrial skills, transforming the brewery into one of Ambev’s main innovation hubs, prepared to meet the growing demands of consumers in the premium and zero alcohol segments”, states Ambev’s vice-president of Supply, Valdecir Duarte.

Since opening the Lages factory, Ambev has invested R$1.4 billion in the unit. In addition to the factory, there are also four distribution centers in the state, in Florianópolis, Joinville, Blumenau and Camburiú. “Cervejaria Santa Catarina occupies a strategic position in the south of the country. Its privileged location allows us to serve several states in the region with agility and efficiency”, says Duarte.
