The preventive arrest of () in the early hours of this Saturday (22) occurred because of the vigil called by Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), his son, in front of the former president’s condominium, according to police information.
According to this information, Bolsonaro was arrested to prevent the crowd of people from making it difficult to comply with the arrest order at the end of the coup plot process. Preventive detention aims to guarantee public order.
The former president was sentenced by the Federal Supreme Court to 27 years and three months in prison for leading an attempted coup d’état.
Flávio Bolsonaro called for a vigil on social media, starting Saturday night, in front of the former president’s condominium. He asked for prayers and, with biblical references, stated that it was necessary to ask God to apply his Justice.
“Are you going to fight for your country or watch everything on your cell phone, from your home? I invite you to fight with us”, he said.
This Saturday’s arrest is not yet the fulfillment of the sentence, which depends on the judgment of Bolsonaro’s final appeals.
The president was sent to the regional superintendence of the Federal Police in Brasília, after the Federal Police picked him up at his home in Brasília, where he is already under house arrest for failing to comply with restrictive measures determined by the minister, of the STF.
