() Paulo Cunha Bueno’s lawyer did not explain the violation of the former president’s electronic ankle bracelet.
Even with video and document from the (Supreme Federal Court) showing the damage to the equipment, the lawyer stated that the information is being used as a narrative to “justify the unjustifiable”.
He also said it was a humiliation for the former president and stated that there was no chance of escape, as Bolsonaro had an armed vehicle outside his house.
Bolsonaro admitted to an agent that he tried to open his electronic ankle bracelet. Initially, the prison administration had been informed that the former president had hit the device on the stairs. However, the expert found that there were no signs of collision or impact on surfaces.
Bueno also said he was outraged by the order of preventive detention and again alleged Bolsonaro’s health status as an impediment to the closed regime.
The lawyer arrived at the Superintendency of Brasília around 1 pm, where Bolsonaro was taken to serve preventive detention. Earlier, the defense issued a joint note stating that the prison order caused “deep perplexity”.
Bueno and Celso Vilardi had asked on Friday (21) that Bolsonaro could continue serving his sentence at home, due to the former president’s health, which was denied by Moraes.
Bolsonaro was taken to the PF prison, where he will remain in an air-conditioned room. Moraes ordered that he receive “full-time” medical care with free movement from the medical team accompanying him, without the need for prior authorization from the STF.
The lawyers also stated that they will present the appropriate appeals in the case.
