During a meeting with Venezuelan university students this Friday, the 21st, President Nicolás Maduro danced to the sound of a remix of a speech in which he calls for peace amid tensions over the sending of American warships and fighter jets to the Caribbean.
He urged students to connect with student movements in the United States to join forces and prevent escalation.
“The mission I give to the Venezuelan student peace brigades is to connect with the student movements” in the United States and “tell them ‘stop the war, not the war.’”

Maduro denounced what he called the “censorship” he suffers abroad on online platforms such as YouTube. Since last September, Maduro’s account on the website has been inaccessible. He considers it necessary to establish direct contact with students in the United States, among others, to convey the message that Venezuela is a country of “good people”.

The president’s account was used to broadcast excerpts from his weekly program on Venezuelan state television. Google has not commented on the apparent closure of Maduro’s account, which had more than 200,000 followers before becoming inaccessible on September 19.
On its website, YouTube says it removes accounts that commit “repeated violations of community standards,” which include posting misinformation, hate speech and content that “interferes with democratic processes.”
