Michelle was not at home at the time of Bolsonaro’s arrest

Former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro was not at home when her husband, former president Jair Bolsonaro, was placed under preventive detention by minister Alexandre de Moraes and was then taken to the Federal Police Superintendence in Brasília. According to analyst Jussara Soares, Michelle is returning to Brasília.

“The former first lady was in Fortaleza where she was taking part in an event for PL Mulher, of which she is president. Therefore, she was not at home when the Federal Police operation took place”, explains Jussara.

The information was confirmed by Senator Damares Alves, who was also not in Brasília at the time of the operation. Damares, who is close to Michelle, stated that they were already expecting an arrest, but did not imagine it would happen this Saturday.

“Michelle had this appointment scheduled. She has been identified as a person who could become Bolsonaro’s spokesperson and is traveling around Brazil, doing several events as president of PL Mulher and, therefore, she already had this trip scheduled and yesterday she had already left Brasília”, informs the analyst.

After the operation, with the message: “We will not give up on our nation.”

Motivations for Preventive Detention

The preventive detention was ordered by Minister Alexandre de Moraes. which had been called to start at 7pm this Saturday, and the recording of an alleged attempt to break the electronic ankle bracelet that had been used since July as a precautionary measure.
