Bolsonaro was arrested this Saturday morning, the 22nd, after an arrest order signed by the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes. The request came from the Federal Police, which states that a demonstration called by Flávio Bolsonaro could pose a risk to agents, participants and the former president himself.
Moraes’ decision also points out that the former president violated the use of an electronic ankle bracelet and had a “high risk of escape”, and that Bolsonaro could flee to embassies close to his home, considering investigations that have already pointed to a planned asylum request for the former president.

In an official note, the Federal Police informed that, as determined by Moraes, the measure should be carried out “with all due respect for the dignity of the former President of the Republic Jair Messias Bolsonaro, without the use of handcuffs and without any media exposure; it is at his discretion whether or not to use the uniform and respective weapons necessary to carry out the order”.
In September of this year, Bolsonaro was sentenced by the First Panel of the STF to 27 years and three months in prison for leading a criminal organization in an attempted coup d’état to remain in government.
