PF suspects that welding device was used on Bolsonaro’s ankle bracelet

The Federal Police are investigating suspicions that a welding device was used to damage former president Jair Bolsonaro’s electronic ankle bracelet. According to investigations, the monitoring equipment showed unusual overheating, which would not be caused by everyday activities such as lying down or sitting. The investigation is carried out by the anchor and analyst of the CNN Gustavo Uribe.

According to investigations, there was an attempt to remove the external cover and turn it off. Among the hypotheses investigated by the PF is the use of a welding device or even a hairdryer to heat the equipment, explains Gustavo Uribe.

Alert and investigation

Although the attempt to remove the external part was unsuccessful, the damage caused to the anklet triggered an alert at 0:08 am this Saturday (22). Officials from the Superintendency of the Penitentiary Administration of the Federal District identified the notice and informed the Federal Supreme Court.

A, claiming that there may have been a technical problem with the ankle bracelet itself. An examination will be carried out to determine the real cause of the damage.

The PF claims to be certain that the problem was not caused by the technology of the equipment itself, but rather by an atypical external factor. Investigators suspect that the possible attempt to deactivate the ankle bracelet could be related to a plan to escape from house arrest.
