Social City Councilor Hacker: Maastricht criteria belong “in the dustbin”

Vienna – For the Vienna City Councilor for Social Affairs Peter Hacker (SPÖ), the EU’s Maastricht criteria for the budget are “neoliberal models that belong in the mothballs”. “I expect our Chancellor and our Finance Minister to make this unmistakably clear in Brussels,” said Hacker in the current report profile. According to the criteria, states are only allowed to take on new debt of a maximum of three percent of GDP, and public debt must not exceed 60 percent of GDP.
