Trump denies threatening Democratic lawmakers with death

US President Donald Trump said on Friday that he is not “threatening death” to Democratic lawmakers who called on the military to disobey illegal orders.

However, he said these lawmakers are in “big trouble.”

“I would say they’re in big trouble. I’m not threatening death, but I think they’re in big trouble,” the president said in a radio interview with Fox News.

Leaders — and even some Republicans — condemned Trump’s posts on Thursday on Truth Social, which accused lawmakers of “SEDICIOUS BEHAVIOR, PUNISHABLE BY DEATH!”

A denied that Trump wanted members of Congress executed.

On Friday, the president also suggested that the Pentagon is investigating the lawmakers’ video in addition to the Justice Department.

“I don’t know for sure, but I think the Army is looking into it,” Trump said.

The president also stated that when he initially learned about the video, he thought it was a “comedy situation.”

“Well, if you look at sedition, if you look at, you know, this kind of — that’s a very strong form of being a traitor. It’s a terrible thing to say, I have to say, I heard it and I thought it was some kind of comedy situation.”
