Ukraine confirms that it will hold a formal meeting in Switzerland with US representatives in "the next few days"

The Government of Ukraine confirmed this Friday the start “in the next few days“of a formal meeting in Switzerland with representatives of the United States to discuss the peace plan that the American president has proposed, , for .

To this end, the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has announced the composition of the delegation that will be dedicated to dealing with Washington and, if necessary, with Russian representatives, the composition of Trump’s peace plan while time is running against him taking into account of the ultimatum given by the North American president, which will expire unless events turn out next Thursday.

It should be remembered that Trump’s plan entails harsh repercussions for Ukraine, which in principle has until November 27 to decide whether to finally admit territorial defeat in the eastern region of Donbas in exchange for security guarantees similar to those of a NATO partner to prevent new Russian attacks, according to the North American document.

The secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, has announced on his Facebook page the beginning of these consultations “between senior officials of Ukraine and the United States” on “the possible parameters of a future peace agreement.”

“Ukraine approaches this process with a clear understanding of its interests,” explained Umerov, who wanted to clarify that the meeting in Switzerland will be “another stage of the dialogue that has been ongoing in recent days and whose main objective is to harmonize our vision for the next steps.”

In a parallel statement, the Presidency of Ukraine has confirmed that Volodymyr Zelensky has already made the decision on the composition of the Ukrainian delegation that will attend the meeting.

“We anticipate constructive work and are willing to move forward as quickly as possible to achieve true peace,” the Presidency says. “Ukraine never wanted this war and will do everything possible to end it with a dignified peace,” he indicated before reiterating that “it will never be an obstacle to peace, and the representatives of the Ukrainian State will defend the legitimate interests of the Ukrainian people and the foundations of European security.”

According to the presidential decree published this Saturday, the delegation that will negotiate with the United States, and will be equally responsible in hypothetical conversations with Russia on this issue, will be headed by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andri Yermak, and by Umerov himself.

Both will be supported by the head of the General Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirilo Budanov; the head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, General Andri Gnatov, and the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, Oleg Ivaschenko.
