The National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) authorized the Canadian airline Air Transat to operate cargo and passenger flights in Brazil. The first routes have already been defined and will connect Rio de Janeiro to Montreal and Toronto. Anac highlights that the company is not authorized to operate domestic flights.
Takeoffs in Brazil are scheduled for Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, while departures in Canada will take place on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
According to Anac, Air Transat’s entry into the Brazilian market reinforces the commitment to increase competition in the airline sector, increase international connectivity and offer more transport options for passengers traveling between Brazil and abroad.
