Flamengo increases advantage over Palmeiras in Brasileirão – 23/11/2025 – Sport

The final stretch of the 2025 season approaches with the rivalry between Flamengo and Palmeiras at its peak. While competing point by point for the leadership of the Brazilian Championship, the two teams are preparing for the final of the Copa Libertadores da América next Saturday (29), in Lima, Peru.

Upon completing the 35th round of the Brasileirão, Flamengo moved closer to the national title after beating Bragantino 3-0 at Maracanã on Saturday night (22).

With three games remaining and nine points up for grabs until the end of the competition, the Rio team reaches 74 points, four more than Palmeiras, which has 70.

Played at Allianz Parque, the São Paulo team drew 0-0 with Fluminense, also on Saturday night, in a delayed match of the 32nd round.

With the latest results, Flamengo could be Brazilian champions in the next round, if they win their game against Atlético-MG on Tuesday (25) and Palmeiras lose their game against Grêmio on the same date.

Despite a threat of instability with the defeat to Fluminense in the penultimate round, the Red and Black campaign is solid, marked by leadership throughout much of the competition.

Palmeiras, on the other hand, vice-leader, is experiencing pressure in the competition. Before this Saturday’s game, Portuguese coach Abel Ferreira’s team was nothing more than a draw against Vitória.

The result against the second-placed team in the competition represented a lost opportunity.

In addition to the domestic dispute, the confrontation between the two giants of Brazilian football gained an even more important chapter: the 2025 Copa Libertadores final.

The duel is scheduled for next Saturday, in a single game, at the Monumental Stadium in Lima.

The clash in the Libertadores reinforces the rivalry that marks the decade and represents a repeat of the 2021 final, won by the São Paulo team by a score of 2-1, in a match played at the Centenario stadium, in Montevideo, Uruguay.

In the 2025 clashes, the Rio team has an advantage over the São Paulo team, with two victories in two games for the Brazilian Championship.

In the first match for the first team, at Allianz Parque, Flamengo managed to win away from home, beating Palmeiras 2-0.

The reunion in the Brasileirão took place on October 19th, at Maracanã. Flamengo won again, this time 3-2.
