Formula 1: Max Verstappen dominates and wins the Las Vegas GP

Max Verstappen won the Las Vegas GP in the early hours of this Sunday (23), resuming the fight for the championship with two stages to go.

The Dutch Red Bull driver started in second, but took the lead in the first corner after a mistake by Lando Norris and did not leave the lead until the final flag.

George Russell, from Mercedes, also gained position right at the start and came in second, while he closed the podium after recovering from his initial mistake.

All the changes at the front took place in the first corner. The British McLaren driver tried a maneuver to hold off Verstappen, but ended up overtaking the point and was overtaken by Max and Russell.

Brazilian Gabriel Bortoleto, trying to advance quickly, ended up getting involved in an Aston Martin, and abandoned the race in the first few meters. Both left the race, triggering a yellow flag that lasted four laps.

The rest of the race continued without many changes, even after Alexander Albon touched Lewis Hamilton’s rear wing, on lap 15, which triggered a virtual safety car.

On lap 34, Norris reacted, regained second place over Russell and maintained the position until the end. Already distant from Verstappen, McLaren maintained its strategy with an eye on fighting for the title.

With the result, Verstappen reaches 366 points, 42 behind Norris, leader with 408. Oscar Piastri appears among them, with 378.

Celebration

After the end of the race, Verstappen, Norris and Russel took a lap around the circuit in a Cadillac made from Lego bricks.

The drivers were welcomed by actor Terry Crews, who drove the vehicle during the tour with the podium trio.
