“A short while ago, the Israeli military carried out a precision strike targeting a key Hezbollah terrorist in Beirut,” Israel’s armed forces said in a brief statement.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave the order for Sunday’s strike in Beirut. According to a statement from his office, the target of this attack was the “Chief of General Staff” of Hezbollah.
“A moment ago, in the heart of Beirut, the Israeli army (IDF) attacked the chief of staff of Hezbollah, who led the building and rearming of (this) terrorist organization,” the brief statement said, adding that Netanyahu “ordered the attack.”

“Israel is determined to act to achieve its goals, everywhere and always,” the statement added, according to AFP.
An Israeli attack on Beirut’s southern suburbs on Sunday killed one person and wounded 21 others, Lebanon’s health ministry said. In a statement, the department added that this was “preliminary data”.
Israel has repeatedly attacked neighboring Lebanon over the past week, with the military saying on Saturday it had hit Hezbollah military facilities.
