More practical than a dryer: an appliance recommended by experts for drying laundry on rainy days

Do you need to quickly dry your clothes in your apartment? Here is one practical solution!

Laundry is a plague… Especially if you have a small apartment in which you dry your laundry in the (sub)winter months. Constant twists and turns around the clothes dryer… Waiting for the wet tops to finally (!!) dry would tire even the most patient person. “That’s right, it’s already bothering me,” admits fifty-year-old Jana from Přelouč, whose dryer takes up a lot of space in the living room. Are you the same way? We have a more efficient solution for you.

Stem mold and moisture

No, don’t worry, we won’t talk you into buying an expensive dryer. Our alternative is much cheaper and 100% reliable. What is it about? “All you have to do is buy an air dehumidifier, which you can buy in the store for a few hundred,” recommends the expert, adding that this device will not only rid the air of excess moisture, but also prevent the growth of mold. But how exactly can a dehumidifier help you with wet laundry?

“The dryer, as well as the laundry dehumidifier, work on the same principle, which is to remove excess moisture from the washed items,” says the expert and continues: “While the dryer uses hot air for this process, the vaporizer is sufficient with a fan that drains the excess water into the collection tank,” explains the expert. Of course, there are more powerful dehumidifiers for drying clothes on the market. They have a more powerful fan and some models even have built-in heating, which speeds up the entire drying process even more.

Price for dry laundry

So if you want to dry effectively, you don’t need to buy a straight dryer for that. Acquiring such an appliance is a big investment, and it will also become quite expensive, as most dryers have a relatively high electricity consumption. Dehumidifiers do a similar job and are a fraction of the price of dryers. In addition, their operation is much more economical and will save you many thousands of crowns per year. One example for all: “A typical load of laundry for a family is around eight kilograms of laundry. While running a dryer for 1 hour of work will cost you 2.4 kWh, a dehumidifier like this uses only 0.155 kWh for six hours of drying. And that’s a damn difference!”

Pluses and minuses

Although both are “working machines”, their operation is different. Here are the pros and cons. “A dehumidifier is definitely quieter than a noisy dryer. At the same time, it uses less energy to operate and is lightweight, so it can be carried anywhere. A lot of dehumidifiers also contain a HEPA filter for air purification,” thinks the expert, and then calculates the minuses in one breath. These are clear in the case of a dehumidifier – it is a machine that works longer and the clothes are not as soft after drying as from the dryer. But the only thing that can keep you warm is the electricity bill. It is considerably lower in the case of a dehumidifier!
