According to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel will do everything to prevent the militants of the Lebanese movement Hezbollah and the Palestinian movement Hamas from regrouping in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip. He told a cabinet meeting on Sunday that Israel was continuing its attacks against “terrorists on multiple fronts.” TASR informs about it according to the report of the AFP agency.
- Israel is taking action against Hezbollah and Hamas militants.
- Prime Minister Netanyahu promises to prevent the regrouping of militants in Lebanon and Gaza.
- The Israeli army launched attacks on military targets of Hezbollah in Lebanon.
- Netanyahu accuses Hamas of violating the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
- 21 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes in Gaza, according to local authorities.
“The Israeli military has been on the offensive in Lebanon this week, and we will continue to do everything necessary to prevent Hezbollah from regaining its ability to threaten us,” Netanyahu said. “We are also doing this in the Gaza Strip. Since the beginning of the cease-fire, Hamas has not stopped violating it, and we are acting accordingly,” says the Prime Minister of Israel.
Israel has repeatedly attacked neighboring Lebanon over the past week, with the military saying on Saturday it had hit Hezbollah military facilities. In addition, the Israeli army continues its attacks in the Palestinian enclave. The Civil Defense Office there claims that 21 people were killed and dozens more injured in Israeli airstrikes on Saturday. Both Israel and Hamas have again accused each other of violating the ceasefire, which came into effect on October 10.
The Israeli army said that “armed terrorists” crossed the so-called yellow lines – areas for which Israeli forces withdrew as part of a ceasefire agreement – and fired on Israeli soldiers. The army, according to its statement, then began “attacking terrorist targets in the Gaza Strip.”
Netanyahu said on Sunday that Hamas had made several attempts to get beyond the yellow lines to harm Israeli soldiers. According to him, the Israeli forces thwarted these attempts and “undertook retaliatory strikes and exacted a very high price.” He claims that “many terrorists” have been eliminated. He also rejected claims that Israel needs approval from other countries before taking such steps. According to him, Israel is responsible for its own security.
