The heating season takes its toll on potted plants. Cooled windowsills and dry air cause the specimens to lose their condition. This time we will focus on growing Spathiphyllum in the autumn and winter. What to do to keep it blooming despite difficult conditions? We remind you of the most important rules for its care and a recipe for a natural flowering conditioner.
Growing Spathiphyllum is not complicated. However, you need to slightly change its care during the heating season to keep it producing flowers. So how to care for this plant in autumn and winter?
First of all, we need to provide the specimen with a brighter place without drafts. That is why it is worth placing it closer to the window, but the sun’s rays cannot fall directly on it. Otherwise, the delicate leaves will be burned.
During the heating season, it is worth increasing the air humidity in the apartment to improve the conditions of the Spathiphyllum. So let’s put the pot on a base with expanded clay. We can also place an air humidifier near it.
In winter, water the plant less frequently, but do not allow the soil to dry out completely. It should be constantly moist, but not soaked. It is best to use standing water at room temperature.
If we want the specimen to bloom again, we should start feeding it with liquid fertilizer intended for potted plants, but only until late autumn. We can also use products we have in the kitchen.
