The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, stated this Sunday, 23, in a post on the social network X, that the responsibility for the continuation of the war lies exclusively with Russia and President Vladimir Putin.

“The crux of the entire diplomatic situation is that it was Russia, and only Russia, that started this war, and it is Russia, and only Russia, that refuses to put an end to it throughout the full-scale invasion,” Zelensky wrote.

According to the Ukrainian leader, since the beginning of the offensive, on February 24, 2022, Putin has led the conflict with “total disregard” for the lives lost, both of Russian and Ukrainian soldiers. “Since the first minutes of February 24, Putin has been waging this war with total disregard for how many of his own people he loses and how many of ours he kills,” he stated.

Still in the publication, and shortly after the President of the United States, Donald Trump, accused the Ukrainian leadership of not showing gratitude for the American country’s efforts to end the war, Zelensky said that Ukraine is grateful to the United States, “to every American and, personally, to President Trump, for the assistance that – starting with the Javelin missiles – has saved Ukrainian lives”.

“We thank everyone in Europe, the Group of Seven (G7) and the Group of 20 (G20) who help us defend lives. It is important to maintain that support.”

“It is important not to forget the main objective: to stop Russia’s war and prevent it from starting again. And to achieve this, peace needs to be dignified”, he highlighted.
