Bonuses for these pensions advance: these pensioners will receive more money every month in 2026

The supplement allocated to a specific group of pensioners will even increase from 2026. The measure was approved in the State Budget, after a parliamentary reversal that changed the voting direction of one of the parties and ended up guaranteeing the feasibility of the proposal.

According to Notícias ao Minuto, the update will be done in phases: half of the increase will come into effect in 2026 and the other half in 2027.

The approved reinforcement applies to the special supplement associated with the period of military service. The values, which vary depending on the duration of the service provision, will increase significantly in the next two years, with a direct impact on the beneficiaries’ monthly income.

New values ​​and phased increase until 2027

According to the approved text, pensioners with a service time bonus of up to 11 months will now receive 112.5 euros, instead of the current 75 euros. For those who have between 12 and 23 months of bonus, the amount increases to 150 euros (currently 100 euros). Those with two years or more of service go from the current 150 euros to 225 euros.

According to Notícias ao Minuto, 50% of these increases will be paid in 2026, with the remainder due in 2027, in a phased model that aims to accommodate the budgetary impact of the measure.

The special pension supplement also undergoes a relevant change. The percentage awarded for each year of military service increases from 3.5% to 10.5% of the pension value, with the effects equally spread over the two years.

Guaranteed change after vote correction

Initially failed, the PS proposal ended up being approved after Chega asked for his voting direction to be corrected.

With this change, the measure passed with the support of the majority of benches, despite the opposition of the PSD and CDS and the abstention of IL.

According to , the secretary general of the PS, José Luís Carneiro, had expressed confidence in the approval of the proposal, arguing that the reinforcement is “fair and responsible” and estimating a total cost of around 20 million euros, distributed between 2026 and 2027.

Direct impact on the income of thousands of pensioners

Approval guarantees a permanent and cumulative reinforcement, which means that covered pensioners will receive more every month.

The increase in the supplement is added to the annual pension update, representing a real increase in monthly income over the next two years.

With entry into force spread between 2026 and 2027, the Government intends to ensure budgetary predictability, maintaining its commitment to the beneficiaries of this special regime.
