At the time, asked about the reason for the meeting, the admiral explained that it served to clarify mutual positions and to reach the conclusion that they had no points in common.
According to the newspaper Público, the lunch was promoted by Mário Ferreira, financier of Gouveia e Melo’s electoral campaign.
