Removed and dismissed from the presidency of the (Bank of Brasília), he complained to allies with whom he spoke in recent days about the isolation he has suffered since the Federal Police operation that targeted , of , and the institution he commanded.

Costa’s dissatisfaction fueled rumors throughout the weekend that he would be willing to make a plea agreement with the Federal Police or the Federal Public Ministry.

Costa’s management is accused of having made illegal transfers of resources to Master through the purchase of , which would be covered up through . Prohibited the negotiation from taking place in September.

Costa’s lawyer, Cleber Lopes, tells the Panel that he is doing well, “as far as possible, as the measure of removal from the bank’s presidency was drastic, but this will be overcome throughout the investigation.” Regarding the investigation, he says that BRB itself has already stated that there was no damage, much less the “stratospheric figure”.

Costa was removed from his position by court decision on Tuesday (18), when he was in the United States participating in a course, and was fired on the same day by management (MDB). He returned to Brazil on Friday (21), and denied having committed any illegality.

In conversations with people close to him, he mentioned that in the first few days he only received text messages from Governor Ibaneis, with whom he spoke frequently on the phone before the operation, and said that he was removed from his position by the vice-governor (PP).

Celina told journalists, shortly after the operation, that the management is not committed to the error and that Costa’s departure was definitive. Ibaneis, in turn, spoke of Costa’s mistakes due to “overconfidence in the bank’s growth”, but said he had affection for him.

The former bank president was still embarrassed on Wednesday (19). Juliana Monici, Ibaneis’ chief of staff and BRB’s fiscal advisor, published a message in a WhatsApp group of management members that highlighted the choice of a “technical profile” to replace Costa in charge of BRB. The substituted player, however, was still in the group.

Juliana and Ibaneis also became defendants in the lawsuit on Tuesday.

In a statement released on Friday (20), Costa stated that he will “personally collaborate with the investigation” and that he will continue to provide “all the information and clarifications necessary for the complete elucidation of the facts.”
