Gominho showed on social media the diamond made from the ashes of Preta Gil. The singer, diagnosed with bowel cancer, he died on July 20, at age 50, and wished to be cremated and for the jewelry to be made and distributed to friends and family.
“I don’t want to make jewelry to wear. And I’m afraid of being robbed, you know, I live in Rio de Janeiro,” he said, live on Instagram. Then he took the box and showed the diamond. “If you ‘pull’ the microscope, it has her name studded on it. I really wanted to wear it, but I’m afraid of losing it. I won’t make a ring because I’ll lose it. I thought about making a bracelet and studding it. I’ll leave it next to my bed. There’s nothing in this house, no one will steal it”, he believes.
According to the “Fantastic” last Sunday (23), the singer was sent to a laboratory in São Paulo with the mission of producing 12 diamonds for her friends. In the process, the extracted carbon was transformed into graphite and sent to India, where the production process was completed.
The diamond that was left with was part of the ashes that were taken to a laboratory in Curitiba. The stone, in this case, was produced entirely in Brazil.
To isolate the carbon from the sample, several burning processes are used to accelerate what would happen in nature and eliminate sulfur, potassium and other organic compounds much faster, leaving only pure carbon. The result, according to experts, is that of a stone that was extracted from nature.
