Hawaii: Kilauea volcano active again – Lava overflows

Kilauea is once again in an active phase, as since yesterday, November 22, 2025, repeated lava overflows have been recorded indicating that its activity remains elevated.

The recent phenomena follows the November 9 eruption and reinforces the view that Kilauea’s cycle of unrest is not yet complete.

USGS scientists are closely monitoring the volcano’s continued swelling and estimate that another episode of lava flow — the 37th in a row — is likely to occur between November 23 and 25.

Their measurements show that the pressure in the underground magma system is gradually increasing, which usually precedes a new eruption.

Hawaii authorities remain vigilant, while experts stress that the situation is constantly evolving and requires constant monitoring. Although the activity has so far not led to immediate dangers to populated areas, Kilauea’s behavior shows that the volcano maintains high energy and may present new eruptions at any time.
