There was a traffic accident in the center of Banská Bystrica on Monday, after which an elderly driver ended up with his car in the Hron river. Banská Bystrica regional police spokeswoman Petra Kováčiková informed TASR about this.
“According to the information from the place, this happened after what the driver should have suddenly felt nauseous. All emergency services came to his aid and he was taken to the hospital from the scene,” said Kováčiková.
Júlia Zeleňáková, spokeswoman for the Regional Directorate of the Fire and Rescue Service in Banská Bystrica, added that the driver pulled the steering wheel and went down a steep slope to Hron. Firefighters who were called helped the lightly injured man out of the car, where he was already taken over by an ambulance.
“There was no one else in the vehicle at the time of the incident except the driver. There was no pollution of the river with operating fluids,” added Kováčiková, adding that the driver’s breath test had a negative result.
