Theaters are valued as places of exchange and entertainment, but in times of reduced budgets they are fighting for territory. It was all the more joyful for the guild to come together on Sunday at the Nestroy Gala to celebrate last season’s achievements. The Vienna Theater Prize has been awarded since 2000, this year in fourteen categories. Julia Riedler was chosen for the title role in Miss Else at the Volkstheater and Nils Arztmann for roles in The legacy awarded at the Theater in der Josefstadt. Itay Tiran secured the best performance in a supporting role in the Jelinek play Burgtheatera co-production of the Wiener Festwochen and Burgtheater.
