Federal deputy Alexandre Ramagem (PL-RJ) stated that he is “safe” in the United States with the “consent of the American government” and that he left Brazil so that his daughters would not see him being arrested. The comment was made in an interview with the Conversa Timeline program, on YouTube, presented by Bolsonaro blogger Allan dos Santos, also a fugitive from Brazilian justice since 2021.

“It’s logical that I wasn’t going to stay in Brazil, with my daughters seeing me being arrested without having committed any crime and suffering under a dictatorship,” he said. “Today I am safe here [nos Estados Unidos] with the consent of the American government. This persecution against me is serious, we will only become aware of it and why over time.”

During the interview, Ramagem also stated that he saw an equivalence between Bolsonaro’s situation in Brazil and what happened with President Donald Trump and, therefore, said that he has been “embraced” on American soil. The parliamentarian would have left the country in September, the same month in which the First Panel of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) analyzed the criminal action against the defendants of the so-called “crucial nucleus” of the coup plot. At the end of the trial, he was sentenced to 16 years in prison.

The incident would have happened after he presented a medical certificate to the Chamber of Deputies for a period from September 9th to December 12th. According to information from TV Globothe Federal Police (PF) is investigating whether he crossed the border by car from Boa Vista and, from there, moved to the USA. The information came to light last Thursday, a few days before his conviction became final and definitive, as Minister Alexandre de Moraes will be able to analyze the final appeals presented by the defense starting this Monday. After learning of the escape, the magistrate ordered the deputy’s arrest last Friday.

. In a post on her social media this Sunday, she showed the moment she arrived in the United States with her daughters by plane and, without giving details of how she entered the country. In the publication, she also says that the trip was a decision for everyone to remain united and states that the deputy is facing “inhumane political persecution”.
