The general director of the Federal Police (PF), Andrei Rodrigues, stated that the Anti-Faction bill (PL) was processed “quickly and without due maturation” in the Chamber of Deputies, where it was approved last Tuesday, 18th. The text, authored by the Lula government, was reported by oppositionist Guilherme Derrite (PP-SP) and is now going to the Senate. Andrei Rodrigues said that there are points that “need special attention” in this second moment in the National Congress.
“We need, instead of having any opposite movement to withdraw resources from the institution, in fact we need to have an opposite path, which is to expand our budgetary capacity to be able to do more and better”, said Andrei in an interview with Band’s Canal Livre program, shown on the night of this Sunday, the 23rd. The program was recorded last Thursday, the 20th.
According to him, it is also important to have a better institutional design of integrated forces to combat organized crime and address the issue of international cooperation.

The head of the PF also defended a legal mechanism that allows the immediate use of seized assets, so that there is a “balance between the use of assets and the fight against organized crime”.
The opinion of the rapporteur, deputy Guilherme Derrite, passed with broad support, despite protests from the government and the PT. The Palácio do Planalto hopes to reverse points of the proposal in the Senate, especially because, in the House, rapporteur Alessandro Vieira (MDB-SE) stated that he will seek a consensus text.
Andrei acknowledged that the PL brought some “advances” in investigative tools and instruments and said he had good expectations regarding the proceedings in the Senate, with possible changes, “so that we definitely have a project and legislation that meets the needs of the people, of Brazilian society, which calls for more security and a better fight against organized crime”.
He also defended that the Federal Police is “an asset” of the Brazilian State and Parliament will be sensitive to strengthening it, expanding not only budgetary but also human resources.
