Just over 6 thousand fans saw the team win 2-1 at Vila Belmiro, this Sunday, with goals from Bobadilla and Rigoni. Discouraged by the abysmal number of absences from the team in addition to the 3-1 defeat to , the Tricolor fans at least finished watching the match in the 35th round of the Brasileirão knowing that they can continue dreaming of reaching a place in the Libertadores.

The São Paulo team played at Vila Belmiro because of the British band’s show at Morumbi. It was the first victory in three games this year as home team in Santos. Before, they drew 2-2 with and lost 1-0 to Red Bull Bragantino.

In eighth place, with 48 points, São Paulo is seven points behind Fluminense, the team that opens the G-7, created after Flamengo and Palmeiras reached the final. Although unlikely, they still have a chance of overtaking the Laranjeiras team. The best chance of going to the continental tournament, however, is to hope that Fluminense or Cruzeiro are champions of the Copa do Brasil, as, in this case, a new place via Brasileirão would be created for the eighth placed team.

São Paulo and Juventude had a technically weak first half, due to the absence of players who offered greater quality to the midfield. If the Rio Grande do Sul team missed Nenê, suspended, to set up the game, the São Paulo team played once again devastated by absences, 12 in total. The youngest on the list is defender Rafael Toloi, who injured his hip in the classic defeat.

With few options, he found some interesting alternatives that bore fruit, such as using Ferreirinha as a left winger. The boy Maik also worked on the right. Up front, Tapia added depth to the tricolor game

The goal came from a good move by Ferreirinha, who carried the ball towards the area and released it for Luciano to finish in the small area. The shot went wide, but Bobadilla managed to reach the ball and push it into the net. There was no moment of great reaction from Juventude until the final moments of the first half, when Jadson and Mandaca were in danger.

São Paulo returned for the second half without Ferreirinha, replaced by Lucca after complaining of pain, becoming a possible candidate to join the list of absences in this final stretch of the season. The dynamics of the match changed little after the change made by Crespo, who was unable to correct the hole in midfield when the team was attacking.

Lucca, just 18 years old, showed personality and looked for a game. He made mistakes, but he insisted on his audacity and was important in making São Paulo advance from the left, breaking the marking. The boy’s posture helped change the configuration of the game, which became more open, with Juventude also more productive in attack. The scenario, however, changed again because Igor Formiga was sent off after making a dangerous tackle on Lucca and left the Caxias do Sul team with one less. Rigoni scored a great goal to expand, already in stoppage time, and Juventude pulled one back with an own goal from Ferraresi.
