Teacher celebrates City Hall award and says Disney & NASA exchange transforms lives

Professor Jocilda da Silva Lima Melo, ranked first among the teachers evaluated in the Disney & NASA Exchange Program, spoke during the press conference held this Monday (24), in the Rio Branco City Hall auditorium.

She represented Escola Maria Lúcia Moura Marin, an institution that achieved the best overall performance in PROA among 5th year classes in 2025.

Excited, Jocilda said the director Adriana Lucena, who was accompanying a special education team, insisted that she go to the conference. “I said: whatever God wants. I’m really grateful. This is a unique recognition,” she said.

The teacher highlighted her career in municipal education, where she will complete 25 years of career in December. With 15 years dedicated specifically to the 5th year, she stated that the results achieved are the result of collective work. “This is not just the merit of the teacher. It is the merit of the entire school. From the first year to the fifth, everything is a process. This result belongs to everyone”, he said, highlighting the importance of the pedagogical team and the partnership with his classmate.

During her testimony, the teacher shared a story that symbolizes the impact of the program on the lives of students. According to her, a student in her class always repeated that his biggest dream was to work at NASA. “When asked what he wanted to be in the future, he said: I want to work at NASA. So, seeing a program like this happening is exciting,” he added.

The teacher thanked the school team, her professional colleagues and the project organizers. “May God bless all the winners. Continue investing in education, because this helps a lot. This merit belongs to all of us”, he stated.
