Polish policemen detained a 42-year-old citizen of Slovakia, who was wanted on the basis of a European arrest warrant. The man was hiding in one of the apartments in Warsaw, where the criminal investigators tried to detain him based on information about his possible hiding place. The man ignored calls to open the door, so the police called the fire brigade, who allowed entry to the apartment through the balcony. The wanted person tried to hide in a sofa, but was quickly discovered and detained.
According to the Polish police, the Slovak was prosecuted on the basis of orders issued by several prosecutor’s offices in connection with suspicions of economic and financial criminal activity. After his arrest, he was taken to the police station and placed in a pre-trial detention cell. The following day, he was brought before the court, which decided on his seven-day detention. After the expiration of this period, the man is to be handed over to the Slovak judicial authorities as part of the procedure for the European arrest warrant.
