The country joins the other nine member states subject to the excessive deficit procedure, Austria, Belgium, France, Hungary, Italy, Malta, Poland, Romania and Slovakia.
The European Commission has decided to propose the opening of an excessive deficit procedure for Finland, as part of the autumn package of the European Semester, it was announced this Tuesday.
“In view of the assessment contained in the report, the opening of an Excessive Deficit Procedure (EDP) for Finland is justified”, says the community executive in a statement, further indicating that it will propose to the Council of the European Union (EU) “the opening of an excessive deficit procedure for Finland”, as well as “a recommendation to put an end to the excessive deficit situation”.
Finland thus joins the nine other Member States subject to the excessive deficit procedure, Austria, Belgium, France, Hungary, Italy, Malta, Poland, Romania and Slovakia, which are suspended.
