“Faro Somos Todos” will continue to support family economies and local commerce

The “Faro Somos Todos” program, aimed at supporting local commerce, was approved this Monday, November 24, at a Chamber meeting, informed the Municipality of Faro. The proposal had favorable votes from the PS, abstention from Chega and votes against from the PSD.

The municipality recalls that this initiative has been implemented in previous years and is recognized for its positive impact on the local economy. In 2025, the program maintains its usual format, introducing, however, “concrete adjustments aimed at reducing the costs associated with its operation (around 150 thousand euros less)”, according to the municipality.

The President of the City Council, António Pina, considers that “this is a fundamental measure to ensure the stability of many traders and family economies that, in recent years, have come to rely on this instrument”. He also emphasizes that this “is the possible solution – although worked on and adjusted by us – that results from consultation with technicians and traders and, like so many other internal processes, is conditioned by the short window of time we have between taking office and the end of the year”.

With the approval now obtained, the municipality guarantees the continuity of a program that, in recent years, has benefited hundreds of families and reinforced local commerce at a phase considered crucial. The municipality highlights that 43% of the amounts allocated are used for food and more than 20% for clothing, meeting the basic needs of children, students and municipal workers.

Thank you for the work of the services involved and reaffirms your commitment to “policies that promote the local economy, reinforce administrative predictability and value workers and families in Faro, who are an essential part of the city’s life”.
