Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin met with his Egyptian counterpart Hassan Rashad and Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani in Cairo to discuss the transition to the second phase of the agreement and strengthening joint efforts in coordination with the US, Reuters reported, citing a Turkish source.

“During the meeting, (they also agreed) to continue strengthening coordination and cooperation with the Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC) to eliminate all obstacles to ensure the continuity of the ceasefire and prevent further violations,” the source told Reuters, adding that the three officials also discussed how to deal with violations of the agreement by Israel.

This meeting comes at a time when Hamas, according to the Israeli side, handed over the body of another dead hostage, but also while the situation in the Gaza Strip is becoming increasingly dramatic. Israeli forces continue to periodically (like yesterday) hit targets despite the truce, while large parts of the enclave have been flooded by the torrential rains that hit the area.
