Guimarães: Breakup of Motta and Lindbergh is not a crisis – 11/25/2025 – Power

The leader of the government in the Chamber, José Guimarães (-CE), stated this Monday (24) that the break between (-PB) and the leader of the PT, (RJ), is not a crisis between the president of the House and the government (PT).

“The crisis that is propagated between the president of PT and the leader of the PT cannot be characterized as a crisis between the government and President Hugo Mota. We had a fierce dispute in the vote for PL Antifacçao. Now it’s time to sit down and discuss the priorities at the end of the year”, wrote Guimarães, in a post on social media.

The government leader also said that he is committed to dialoguing with Motta and seeking “the middle path” for votes on the Planalto Palace’s interests until the end of the year. Among leaders from the center, Guimarães is seen as a figure who can act to de-escalate the climate between the top of the Chamber and the Planalto Palace.

This Monday. The president of the Chamber told the reporter that he was “no longer interested in having any type of relationship” with Lindbergh.

In response, Motta’s position is that if there is a crisis of trust between the government and the president of the Chamber “it has more to do with the choices that Hugo Motta himself has made”.

Motta and Lindbergh’s breakup has the potential to further erode the Executive’s relationship with Congress, at a time when there is also conflict between the Senate and the Planalto Palace. Lula’s interlocutors said they found Motta’s speech disproportionate, saying that, despite the tension between politicians, they believed it was possible to build dialogue and understanding.

Furthermore, they state that Lindbergh’s stance in defense of the government’s interests was endorsed by the President of the Republic himself. Lula stimulated political disputes in the Chamber to prevent the advancement of matters that the Executive was against, such as .

According to reports made to the reporter, firefighters have already been deployed to try to defuse the atmosphere and prevent agendas of interest to the government from progressing in the House. The parliamentary recess begins on December 23. Allies of the President of the Republic also say it is necessary to “lower the temperature”, try to seek dialogue and build a relationship that does not make work in the Chamber unfeasible.

In recent months, the President of the Chamber’s group has complained about Lindbergh’s performance, accusing him of getting excited in discussions and seeking to erode the House’s image in public opinion. The Chamber leadership also criticizes the deputy’s behavior in weekly meetings with leaders and Motta, stating that he acts as if he were government leader, when he should only answer for the PT bench.

The discussion of the anti-faction bill, , accentuated the strain on Motta’s relationship with Lindbergh, say the parliamentarian’s allies. Members of the Chamber’s leadership complain, with reservation, about the actions of the government and its ministers in processing the matter, accusing them of encouraging attacks on the House and what they consider “narratives” about the content of the text.

After voting on the project, there was a crisis of confidence between the Executive and Motta.
