Ukraine has agreed to Trump’s peace plan, with only “small details” missing, according to a US government official, despite President Volodymyr Zelensky stating that there is still “a lot of work” to do.

“The Ukrainians agreed to the peace deal. There are some small details to resolve, but they agreed to the peace deal,” said the unnamed source, at a time when the US Army Secretary is in Abu Dhabi to meet with Russian representatives about Trump’s proposal.

The source’s statement appears to go further than the public position of the Ukrainian authorities, who also have a delegation present in Abu Dhabi and who have been in contact with Dan Driscoll.

In a post on X, Ukraine’s national security secretary Rustem Umerov wrote that delegations had “reached a common understanding on the fundamental terms of the agreement discussed in Geneva.”

“We now count on the support of our European partners in our next steps,” Umerov wrote, adding that Ukraine hopes to organize Zelensky’s visit to the US to “complete the final steps and reach an agreement with President (Donald) Trump.”

Also on X this morning, Zelensky said that, “after the meetings in Geneva, Ukraine sees many perspectives that can make the path to peace real.” “There are solid results, and there is still a lot of work ahead”, he simply indicated.

Lt. Col. Jeff Tolbert, Driscoll’s spokesman, said, however, that talks between the U.S. and Russian delegations in Abu Dhabi “are going well and remain optimistic.”
