PL meeting after Bolsonaro’s arrest has uneasiness between Michelle and Flávio

The definition of senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) as his father’s spokesman after his pre-trial detention generated discomfort among family members, according to allies who participated in the meeting held yesterday afternoon at the PL headquarters in Brasília.

In addition to Flávio, the meeting was attended by former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro, and her other political children, former Rio councilor Carlos Bolsonaro and Balneário Camboriú (SC) councilor Jair Renan.

Although there was no direct clash with Flávio, Michelle reportedly complained to some people about the fact that she had not been consulted by Bolsonaro’s eldest son, as until then she had been the only person in the family to be with the former president.

Participants at the meeting claim that the former first lady had at least two crying spells while speaking to her supporters.

Despite her discomfort with Flávio, Michelle showed that she now maintains a good relationship with Carlos, with whom she was previously disaffected and has declared that she “does not have to live” with him. It was son 02 who supported Michelle during one of her crying spells and told those present that “he doesn’t know where she gets so much strength from”.

Carlos, according to those present, also made another pacification movement considered unusual by Bolsonarists: he made a point of praising deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG), presented as a “consistent voice” in defense of his father. The deputy from Minas Gerais had been criticized by Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), precisely for not taking the reins of the ex-president’s defense, and had previously had friction with Carlos.

The meeting also had moments of tension: Michelle scolded Congressman Gilvan from Federal (PL-ES) for criticizing the senators’ trip to Complexo da Papuda. According to participants, Michelle complained about the deputy’s behavior in publicly criticizing fellow members of the opposition. The parliamentarian complained that the senators’ inspection would be an acceptance of the former president’s arrest.
