Rector of St. Petersburg State University Nikolay Kropachev presents the new Explanatory Dictionary of the State Language of the Russian Federation.
The new Russian state dictionary says authoritarianism is the “most effective form of government” and bans words like ass, shit and fart. Faith, truth, good and hope do not exist at all. And “humanism” and “life” are traditional Russian spiritual values.
Russia this year introduced a new Explanatory Dictionary of the State Language of the Russian Federation, compiled at St. Petersburg State University and immediately included in the official list of normative dictionaries that public bodies are obliged to use.
The new dictionary, which should serve as a reference in schools, was prepared under the supervision of the Russian Ministry of Justice, and “some definitions” were articulated with the legal department of the Orthodox Church from Russia.
The Russian newspaper analyzed the dictionary and discovered, among other peculiar definitions, that life begins at the moment of conceptiontelevision plays a role in the formation of the state and the Constitution is no longer the law fundamental of the country.
The dictionary also tightens the grip on obscenity, expanding the list of “offensive” words to include linguistic threats such as “ass”, “shit” and “fart“. At the same time, completely omits certain termssuch as “gulag” (which is even in the Portuguese dictionary), “Stalinism”, “faith”, “hope”, “good” and “truth”.
According to the dictionary’s authors, these changes are intended to reflect the “traditional spiritual and moral values” defined in the 2022 presidential decree on principles of state policy.
The independent Russian portal also analyzed the new dictionary, and also found some entries worth noting.
“authoritarianism“, for example, it is considered the most effective form of governance in difficult times for a country.”Democracy” is a form of governance in Western countries in which citizens have certain rights and freedoms, and the State works in the interests of the most influential actors who condition decisions about political, economic and social life.
O “marriage” is a family union between a man and a woman, and the “homosexuality” a form of sexual deviation that manifests itself in the satisfaction of sensual desire with people of the same sex, sodomy or pederasty.
In the new dictionary, “enemy” is what the sovereign authority considers hostile to the people, the government or the State. The word “hegemony” has a clear meaning: the USA, which allows itself to ignore rules to always win; the ability to benefit from preserving a neocolonial system, limiting the sovereignty of independent states and reinforcing the power of the dollar.
Already “humanism” is a traditional Russian spiritual and moral value — just like “life“, also defined as the period of a person’s existence from conception.
That’s how we live in Russia. Judging by your new dictionary, no “faith”, no “truth”, no “hope”.
