The nascent coalition of the ANO, SPD and Motoristi seba movements approved personal nominations for ministers in the future Czech government at the meeting of the coalition council on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the chairman of the ANO movement, Andrej Babiš, will personally hand them over to President Petr Pavlov. Babiš stated this after the meeting of the coalition council, but he did not want to comment on specific names, reports TASR in Prague.

  • The coalition of ANO, SPD and Motoristi approved nominations for ministers.
  • Babiš will hand over the nominations to President Petr Pavlov on Wednesday.
  • Babiš plans to participate in the European Council in December.
  • Babiš will present the solution to the conflict of interests at an extraordinary meeting.

“We have an agreement with Mr. President that tomorrow I will present him with the proposal of the coalition government and Mr. President will then invite the proposed candidates,” said the head of ANO. After that, it depends on Mr. President how quickly he completes the talks… I hope it will end so that I can participate in the European Council meeting on December 18 and 19. The program statement of the government would then be at the beginning of January, followed by a request for confidence,” he added.

The question regarding the resolution of the conflict of interests remains unanswered

When asked when he would present a solution to the conflict of interests, he told the journalists that they would be surprised at Thursday’s extraordinary session of the Chamber of Deputies, which will deal with this very matter.

On Tuesday, before the meeting of the coalition council, Speaker of the House Tomio Okamura stated that, according to the ideal schedule, Babiš should present a solution to his conflict of interests by mid-December, and then the president should appoint him as prime minister. Pavel has already stated that the speed of further development depends on when Babiš presents a solution to his conflict of interests. He does not want to appoint him as Prime Minister without that.
