Vitória officially presented, on Monday night (24), the complete project for Arena Barradão, which will expand the capacity of the current stadium and modernize the entire structure intended for games, shows and events.

The project foresees that the new arena will receive 40,597 fans, an increase in relation to the current 30,793. The number of boxes will also increase significantly: from 20 to 116, incorporating seven thousand new seats for red and black fans.

In addition to the expansion, Arena Barradão will have special spaces, such as rooftop with panoramic views, restaurants with a full view of the field, exclusive stands and covered terraces designed to host corporate and cultural events.

Consortium will be responsible

The project will be led by the SD Arenas consortium, formed by SD Plan and Grupo AR, which will be responsible for the investment, financial management and operation of the arena. The division of functions occurs as follows:

  • SD Plan: engineering, infrastructure and maintenance;
  • AR Group: hospitality, gastronomy and events.

Investment and impact on equity

With an estimated investment of R$405 million, the projection is that, at the end of the contract, it will reach R$1.4 billion in equity considering the value of the new Arena Barradão. The consortium also estimates that the equipment can generate R$20 million in annual net revenue, without operational risk for the club.

Works will begin in 2026 and will be divided into phases

Work should begin in the second half of 2026, after approval by the Deliberative Council in December. To prevent Rubro-Negro from no longer hosting games at Barradão, the renovation will be divided into five phases.

The idea is to keep the stadium functional throughout the process, although there will be conversations with Arena Fonte Nova and analyzes about Pituaçu if it is necessary to use another location temporarily.

“It’s a new era for Esporte Clube Vitória. In fact, what is happening is the result of a lot of work, three and a half years of work, it didn’t fall from the sky. There were many meetings with investors to make this a reality”, said Fábio Mota, president of the Salvador team.

“The idea is to stay at Barradão until the last minute. If we have to leave, we are talking to Arena Fonte Nova and we are analyzing Pituaçu […] Arena Barradão adds value to SAF. It will be another asset for investment in the club to be greater”, he added.

“Considering the arenas that we have already built, this one is unique due to its topography, its cauldron, its location, its fans, so we consider architectural elements to be unique due to the arena’s own historical characteristics”, said Danilo Carvalho, CEO of SD Plan.

“It’s unique for us, but it will have all the elements of the world’s main arenas for concerts and football. We will be able to host even the Libertadores finals here, for sure, and Vitória can reach one of these finals”, he added.
